TSUM'19 - International Workshop on Technologies and Solutions for Urban Mobility - Welcome and Committees

TSUM'19 Welcome Message from the Workshop Co-Chairs

The First International Workshop on Technologies and Solutions for Urban Mobility aims to provide a setting for researchers/practitioners in the field an opportunity to discuss current trends, challenges and state of the art solutions addressing issues associated with urban mobility. According to estimates from the United Nations, just over half of the world population resides in urban areas and this figure is expected to rise to 66% by 2050. This continues to put tremendous strain on the available urban resources that need to be managed effectively, transport being a very fundamental one. Building incrementally on the status-quo and devising solutions that go hand in hand with those already in place continues to be the most pragmatic approach. The topical theme of this workshop aligns naturally with the areas of focus of PerCom as the emphasis is to leverage the pervasiveness of computing and communications to solve problems of societal importance.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the technical program committee members of TSUM for their time and effort in providing thorough reviews on the submitted manuscripts without which the TSUM program would not have existed. The papers accepted by TSUM were chosen based on their relevance to the workshop theme and their technical contribution to the state-of-the-art. We'd also like to thank the PerCom organizing committee, particularly the workshops chairs, the publications chairs and the general chairs for their support and patience. Finally, no program is complete without the participation of the speakers and the attendees. Thank you to all the authors for choosing this venue to disseminate your work and to all the workshop attendees for engaging with this event. Welcome to Kyoto, welcome to PerCom/TSUM and we sincerely hope that you have an enjoyable stay and a fruitful time at the event.
