UNAGI'19 - Workshop on UNmanned aerial vehicle Applications in the Smart City: from Guidance technology to enhanced system Interaction - Welcome and Committees
Welcome Message from the Workshop Chairs
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles-based applications and services in the city are no more a remote possibility, but a short-term and broad-scope economic and social opportunity. Emergency-response coordination, public or private urban infrastructures monitoring, crowds and traffic flow control, logistics or support to intelligent transportation systems are some of the domains in which UAV may become key in the city of the future. Additionally, these aerial platforms will become an important element of the urban sensing network, thus it does exist a need of merging their information with the flow coming from traditional sensors through existing platforms. In this context, the Workshop on "UNmanned aerial vehicle Applications in the Smart City: from Guidance technology to enhanced system Interaction" (UNAGI'19) aims at discussing advances and reflecting on pending issues to bring drones to the smart city.
UNAGI Programme Committee has finally selected nine contributions on the basis of their quality and relevance. The result is a program that covers three key aspects of the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles: a) applications and drone-based service delivery; b) enabling technologies for high-performing drone-based systems and c) platforms/systems to support drone operations. We would like to thank the members of UNAGI program committee for their professional reviews and unwavering support. We would also like to mention and thank the help that we have received from PerCom Workshop Chairs and PerCom Organizers to make this Workshop possible. Obviously, this event would be nothing without authors and attendees, so our closing big thanks goes to them.
